A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is a secure digital key that certifies the identity of the holder, issued by a Certifying Authority (CA). It typically contains your identity (name, email, country, APNIC account name and your public key). These are divided into three classes that are Class-I, Class-II & Class-III.
Class-I DSC: Class I DSC is issued to both individulas and business personnels. This certificate will confirm that the information in the application provided by the subscriber does not conflict with the information in well-recognized consumer databases.
Class-II DSC: Class II DSC is issued to both individulas and business personnels. This certificate will confirm that the information in the application provided by the subscriber does not conflict with the information in well-recognized consumer databases. Class II DSC is used for company registration, company income tax return filings, company GST registration and returns, provident fund and esi registrations.
Class-III DSC: Class III DSC is issued to both individulas and organisations. This certificate is an high assurance certificate. Class III DSC is used for e-Tendering, e-Procurement et.,.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India made is mandatory to have Class II digital Signature Certificate for an individual who intends to register his/her company. There are Certifying Authorities, who issues the Class-II or Class-II digital signature certificates.
